Audio BJ for March 6, 2007

Dearest readers, I am eternally apologetic for this belated post. Hopefully none of you were waiting to play the soundtrack to an inportant event based upon my recommendations. I promise to make it up to each and every one of you in the individual BJ way. And without any further ado, my top music recommendation of the week:

Meet the Holland Boys! This mysterious German dance-pop group in like an electro Pet Shop Boys that is somehow even gayer than the Pet Shop Boys. Their single "I Am Gay," in a perfect world, would be playing in malls, airports, and children's rec sporting events across the land. Although they are currently unsigned (making them ever so much more hip), I'm sure that will change, but in the mean time you can acquire their songs for free via their MySpace page. While you're there, take a moment and say hello to me.

Those of you with eyes and ears already know that Arcarde Fire and Air have new albums. I've been a casual Air fan for years, so it's hard not to recommend them. I can't say I know much about the Arcade Fire other than they are Canadian and rocking the ugly/intense look that so many indie people love. Is their new album any good? Who cares? The critics don't! They'll tell you it's good and you will buy it and listen to it and not be impolite and claim otherwise, no matter what you really think. Now shut up and go to American Apparel.

Perhaps The New Violators will be the next Arcade Fire! They're happier, cuter, and Norwegian to boot. Their music has a hint of Duran Duran, a hint of David Bowie, and lots of catchy new-wave pop anthem explosiveness. Plus, I've heard they wear terrifyingly tight white pants when they play live. This is my kind of indie rock band.

You promised a daily BJ. If you're not going to put out like you promised, we're going to have to break up.
